Barricaded Long Beach Suspect Taken Into Custody

LONG BEACH, CA — A man suspected of injuring a woman during an altercation in Long Beach barricaded himself and held police at bay for several hours Friday before being taken into custody.

Officers responded to the 1900 block of Long Beach Boulevard shortly after 11 a.m. to a report of an injured woman who had argued with the suspect, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

It was unclear what led up to the dispute, and the woman was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries by paramedics.

Police told City News Service that SWAT was activated and remained on the scene until the suspect was taken into custody around 3:30 p.m.
