- On Wednesday afternoon, the LBFD was called to Belmont Heights at the 500 block of Grand Avenue (near Fremont Elementary School) to fight a residential structure fire. - Last Friday, a 13-year-old boy was the victim of a hit-and-run near Conant Street and Faculty Avenue. He was riding his bike a little after 6 p.m., when “a black sedan driving erratically struck him from behind, hurtling him over the hood.” The teen’s family explains that the driver pulled into the “parking lot of a Mercedes-Benz dealership on Lakewood Boulevard to try and dislodge the bicycle from underneath.” If you have any information, please call the LBPD Collision Investigations Detail at 562-570-7355. - A 31-year-old Signal Hill resident was shot Wednesday evening around 6:30 p.m. at East Esther Street and Atlantic Avenue (near Poly). Multiple suspects approached the man who was sitting in his car. Someone took out a gun and fired.
