Bomb Scare at Police Substation
A Lakewood man making anti-police comments left an object behind, forcing evacuation and road shutdown.

A man caused a scare at a Long Beach Police Department substation today when he made anti-police statements and then left an object between the door handle and glass of the station’s entrance.
The man, later found to be a resident of Lakewood, arrived about 11:15 a.m. at the station at Los Coyotes Diagonal north of Pacific Coast Highway, according to Long Beach police.
“Due to the nature of the incident, assistance from the Los Angeles County (Sheriff’s Department) bomb squad was requested,” according to a police statement.
