Carson Park COVID Rules + Free LBUSD Meals + 75% Vaccination Rate

If you live in Carson Park, you may soon have special COVID rules applying just to you. Also, students in the LBUSD will receive free meals this school year. Finally, LB aims for an 80% adult vaccination rate.

Here are the top stories today in Long Beach:

1. Carson Park neighbors may soon have to follow more stringent COVID health rules than the rest of the City. While LB intends to align with the state on guidelines, Carson Park falls under the jurisdiction of the L.A. County Board of Supervisors, which may vote to require proof of vaccination for certain indoor activities. (LB Post)
2. LBUSD students will receive free meals for the 2021-22 school year. The program is administered through the Seamless Summer Option. (LB Schools)
3. Mayor Robert Garcia reports that Long Beach reached the milestone of vaccinating at least 75% of eligible adults. His next goal is to reach 80%. (ABC 7)
4. Several residential streets in the City will see speed limit reductions. The greatest effect will be on Belmont Shore, where the entire neighborhood south of The Toledo and Livingston Drive sees a speed reduction from 25 mph to 15 mph. Magnolia Avenue between Willow Street and Wardlow Road reduces to 30 mph. Between 7th Street and Anaheim Street, speed on Magnolia Avenue reduces to 25 mph. (LB Post)
5. The Port of LB announces that it will celebrate the grand opening of the LB Container Terminal tomorrow. It was “designed for sustainability including zero-emissions and all-electric technology and 5 LEED Gold-Certified buildings.” (@portoflongbeach)
