Man Crossing Street Dies After Being Hit By SUV In Long Beach, Police Say (patch.com) — Long Beach residents are being urged to come forward with any information after a man died when an SUV struck him as he crossed West Willow Street at Maine Avenue late Tuesday night. Long Beach police say the driver of the Toyota RAV4 stayed at the scene and is cooperating, and investigators do not currently suspect speed, distraction, or impairment, though the exact circumstances of the crossing remain under review.
   

2. 16-Year-Old Dies After 2-Car Crash In Long Beach: Police Investigation Continues (patch.com) — A 16-year-old girl has died after a two-car collision on Long Beach Boulevard near Wardlow Road, where she and a 17-year-old driver were critically injured in a Saturn Aura. Long Beach police say the teen’s car sideswiped a Jeep Wrangler while changing lanes, and investigators are examining whether speed or distracted driving contributed to the crash.
   

3. Stephen Downing, police officer who wrote for TV, dies at 87 (texarkanagazette.com) — Long Beach readers may recognize Stephen Downing from his reporting in the Beachcomber and his role uncovering Long Beach police officers’ use of a message-deleting app that prompted the department to stop using it. The longtime LAPD officer-turned-TV writer and producer, who helped shape “MacGyver,” died Nov. 20 in Long Beach at age 87.
   

4. Real estate news: Orange City Square office complex sells for $89 million (ocregister.com) — A Long Beach-based hotel executive, Kristi Allen of Ensemble, has been tapped to lead California’s hotel and lodging association, after years of work with the Long Beach Convention and Visitors Bureau and Downtown Long Beach Alliance. Her new statewide role comes amid major Orange County property deals and a local firm’s Movember fundraiser, highlighting how regional real estate and hospitality decisions tie back to Long Beach’s economy and influence.
   

5. First Christmas Brings Crew, Families Together (militaryspot.com) — A Long Beach sailor, Culinary Specialist 2nd Class Michael White, played a key role in preparing the first Christmas meal aboard the new aircraft carrier John F. Kennedy. He and fellow crew members worked overnight to serve a large holiday feast for sailors and visiting families. The celebration marked a meaningful milestone for many experiencing their first major holiday at sea together.
