Sunny Southern California doesn’t disappoint with June temperatures reaching 68° for the high and 60° for the low. Odds are good it’ll be partly cloudy, in keeping with our typical June Gloom.

The Five News Headlines That Everyone’s Talking About
- Residents from the seventh district flooded Council Member Roberto Uranga’s office with angry messages over the impact of tree removal on nesting birds. As a result, the City Council voted to re-evaluate its tree maintenance policy to protect nests in the spring. (LB Press Telegram)
- The City has officially designated Juneteenth a “Day of Celebration” after Councilman Al Austin introduced the proposal. Event planning is underway for festivities on June 19 for the downtown area. (LB Post)
- Belmont Shore may soon see a drop in residential speed limits from 25 mph to 15 mph. Councilwoman Suzie Price wants the community’s input during an online meeting on Monday. (LB Press Telegram/Grunion Gazette)
- Insiders are expecting a late summer wedding boom. Photographers are booked through the end of the year. Phones are ringing at popular wedding venues such as The Grand. Typical convention hotels like the Hilton are trying to get in on the action to make up for canceled events. (LB Business Journal)
- A program called “Protecting Blue Whales and Blue Skies” ran from 5-15-20 to 11-15-20, and reduced whale collisions by 35%. Sixteen shipping companies participated by reducing their vessel speeds to 10 knots or fewer. Typically, cargo ships approaching the LB Port go 12 knots. (LB Post)
