💧 Water Crisis Poll! 💧
Residents are limited to watering their landscapes two days per week, before 9 a.m. or after 4 p.m. What else should the City do to deal with the water crisis? Please let me know your thoughts! So far, 23.8% want to mandate drought-resistant landscaping, 21.4% want to recycle wastewater for irrigation, another 33.3% want to build a desalination plant at the coast, and 21.4% don’t believe residential water use contributes to the water crisis.
Here are the top five stories in Long Beach today:
- The LBPD had a busy weekend. On Sunday evening, there was a stabbing in the “area of West 14th Street and Pacific Avenue.” A visitor to a park in the area got into a dispute with someone, which then escalated. On Monday morning, just after midnight, officers headed to “the intersection of 17th Street and Chestnut Avenue regarding a hit shooting.” The victim said he was riding a bicycle when he was shot at. (LBPD)
- A 16-year-old girl, who was setting up for a fundraising event “in the 1400 block of Magnolia Avenue around 11:45 a.m.” on Sunday, was shot multiple times. Detectives suspect that “the motive is gang-related.” (KTLA)
- We will have an opportunity to vote on “state funding for public schools for music and arts education programs.” We learned on Sunday that Proposition 28, which will be on the November ballot, will ask that one percent, which would “be between $800 million and $1 billion each year,” fund arts and music education. (LB Post)
- "Grease," the musical, is coming to the Carpenter Performing Arts Center. Shows run from July 8 to July 24. See the performances of Kris Bona, Isa Briones and Stephanie Bull – to name just a few of the top-notch performers. (Musical Theatre West)
- Mark your calendars! If your teen is looking for something to do, the local libraries have a summer reading program that adds drop-in workshops. For example, on Thursday, the Billie Jean King Main Library will host a critter plushies event at 4 p.m. (City of LB)
