  3. Update: Council member Suely Saro has requested that $5,890 be transferred from the 6th District account to restore the Martin Luther King Jr. statue in Central LB. The funds will be used for a full restoration, which includes rust removal and weatherproofing. “This is my way, as a person who has been raised to respect their elders, to ensure that things like this are taken care of,” she said. (LegiStar, LB Post)
  4. The LB City Council is mulling over an indoor vaccine mandate. The City’s health department provided data about vaccine rates, infection counts, and regional policy considerations. At this point, it is unclear which types of businesses would be affected, what enforcement would look like, and what new technology is required. Mayor Robert Garcia noted, “public good always trumps personal liberty.” (LB Post)
  5. The LBPD will conduct a DUI checkpoint on Friday from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. It will be somewhere in the North Patrol Division. Unless you have about $13,500 sitting around doing nothing, mind your Ps and Qs, and don’t drive under the influence. (LB Local News)
