LONG BEACH, CA — School officials are investigating an incident in which students were photographed wearing lettered T-shirts to spell out a racial slur on Cabrillo High School grounds, according to authorities.
“We are deeply disappointed and appalled by a recent incident involving a group of students posing for a disturbing and offensive photo,” officials said in a message to the school community. “This conduct is unacceptable and does not reflect the values of our school or district.”
The incident took place Thursday after a senior panoramic photo shoot, according to a Long Beach Unified School District spokesperson. Students dispersed following the shoot but a group stayed behind and took the photo, the spokesperson said.
