Here are the top stories today in Long Beach:
- A drive-by shooting Saturday left a 30-year-old man wounded. It took place in the 200 block of North Pine Avenue, near Broadway. However, the victim refuses to cooperate with the investigation. (LBReport, LB Post)
- Saturday saw another couple of shootings. This time, two adult women got into an altercation in the 4900 block of Ruth Avenue, also known as “north of the tracks.” The first incident involved pistol whipping and a shot fired into the ground. The second time around, the same victim was shot at, but an occupied building was struck instead. (LBReport)
- The Mayor’s team was on hand for the opening of the Scholars Collective at the Arts Building in downtown. It offers tutoring, hourly enrichment, online homework help, and schedules parents’ night out events. (@LongBeachMayor, Scholars Collective)
- If your business is looking for office space, now is the right time. Vacancy rates are 23.8% in downtown and 22.5% in other parts of LB. Asking rents might drop if demand stays soft, the experts say. (LB Business Journal)
