Here are the top stories in Long Beach today:
- Update: Do you remember when someone defaced the city’s Martin Luther King Jr.’s statue last month? It turns out that the City had a malfunctioning security camera trained on the statue. The City has now installed an upgraded system. It declined to comment on why or for how long the camera had been malfunctioning. (LB Post)
- The City had two more shootings. The first one took place Friday evening around 10 p.m. in the 2500 block of East Anaheim Street near Molino Avenue. It killed an adult male. The next shooting took place in the 3300 block of Andy Street and left an adult man wounded. The victim said that an argument with an unknown male led to the shooting. (LBReport, LBReport)
- On Thursday, a semi-truck on PCH near Hayes Avenue fatally struck an adult male pedestrian when he attempted to run across the lanes of traffic. If you witnessed the accident, please call the LBPD’s Collision Investigation Detail Detective Joseph Johnson or Kelsey Myers at (562) 570-7355. (LB Local News)
- The construction on Dave & Buster’s at the Long Beach Towne Center will continue after a yearlong pause. The new anticipated opening date is summer of 2022. (OC Breeze)
