Fire Crews Extinguish 2nd-Alarm Blaze In Long Beach

LONG BEACH, CA — Fire crews on Monday put out a 2nd-alarm fire at a home in Long Beach, according to authorities.

Fire officials say the blaze erupted around 1:37 p.m. in the 2600 block of Chesnut Avenue. There, crews battled through heavy fire and smoke conditions, along with downed wires, to put out the blaze, according to the Long Beach Fire Department.

It's unclear exactly what started the fire, but according to fire officials, the smoke and flames appeared to be coming from an ADU above a garage.

Video from the LBFD's social media shows firefighters hosing down the charred garage. It took about 30 minutes to put out the flames, the LBFD said.

Nobody was injured or displaced in the fire, according to authorities.
