Flood Forces Evacuations In Long Beach Neighborhood
Long Beach residents evacuated their homes Friday morning due to flooding in one neighborhood.
LONG BEACH, CA — Heavy overnight rain led to flooding in one Long Beach neighborhood Friday.
Three to four feet of water accumulated about 6:30 a.m. Friday in an area of the 700 block of Rancho Drive, near Cal State Long Beach, Long Beach Fire Department Capt. Jack Crabtree told City News Service. Water was up to the windows of cars parked in the area.
A swiftwater rescue team helped people evacuate from their homes, and no injuries were reported, Crabtree said.

Clearing drains in the area was expected to help water levels go down but an investigation was underway to determine whether other factors contributed to the flooding, he said.
