Officials said that anyone can quickly master the technique and Tuesday's free lessons will take less than 10 minutes working with a trained firefighter or lifeguard.
According to the American Heart Association, which is promoting the simplified technique, CPR can more than double a person's chances of survival and is simple enough for a child to learn.
Tuesday's free lessons will take place at the Long Beach Memorial Medical Center, 2801 Atlantic Avenue, from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. No appointment is necessary.
