LONG BEACH, CA — A hazardous-materials incident originating at the Veteran's Administration hospital near the Cal State Long Beach campus was contained Monday afternoon after prompting shelter-in-place orders for people in various campus buildings, CSULB officials said.

Hospital security reported possible hazardous material inside a vehicle, says the LBFD's Matt Dobberpuhl. The hospital sits adjacent to Cal State Long Beach where people in some buildings were told to shelter in place, close all windows and move to interior rooms.

Everyone else was told to avoid the area. The Veteran's Administration hospital is located in the 5900 block of East Seventh Street.
