Help Needed For Southern California Toddler Fighting Cancer

A just 15 months old, Rowan Haynes was diagnosed with Ganglioneuroblastoma, a cancer found in the adrenal glands.

LONG BEACH, CA -- A just 15 months old, Rowan Haynes is fighting for his life. The toddler was recently diagnosed with stage 3 Ganglioneuroblastoma, a cancer found in the adrenal glands.

Because Rowan's body didn't respond to chemotherapy, he underwent surgery on April 26 with staff successfully removing 90 percent of the tumor, according to a GoFundMe page created for him. But, Rowan's battle against cancer isn't over yet.

"While the best possible outcome was achieved during surgery, our battle with cancer is far from complete," the fundraising webpage said. "Depending on the type of tissue that still remains in his body and how well he recovers from surgery, he will still need a lot of treatment. He might need additional chemotherapy and maybe even radiation."

"Rowan will eventually need physical, occupational, and speech therapy to catch up on his milestones," the GoFundMe pagewent on to say. "Our oncology team estimates that his treatment will take anywhere from 6-12 months; we have been in the pediatric intensive care unit for only two months so far."

Loved ones are asking the public to help raise $14,000 to help pay for medical bills.

"Rowan requires us to be by his side at all times in the hospital so we won’t be actively earning income. These donations will help us maintain his care and comfort," the GoFundMe said.
