  1. There was a hit-and-run traffic fatality at 4th Street and The Promenade on Monday afternoon. A red pickup truck struck an adult female. The driver fled “southbound on Pine Avenue from 4th Street.” A second driver struck the woman, but this driver remained on the scene. If you know anything about the hit-and-run driver or the red pickup truck, please contact Detective Kelsey Myers or Detective Joseph Johnson of the Long Beach Police Department Collision Investigation Detail at (562) 570-7355. (LBPD)
  2. On Monday, the LBFD announced that COVID-19 “hit the Long Beach Fire Department with 46 positive cases reported among fire personnel over the past five days.” The majority of these cases are breakthrough infections. The FD explains that response time wouldn’t be affected. (LB Post)
  3. The El Dorado Dog Park at 7550 East Spring Street was closed on Tuesday due to flooding. Pet lovers appreciate this off-leash park because it separates large from small dogs and offers drinking fountains and double-gate entries. Recent rainfalls across the City left it muddy and with some standing water. (LB City)
  4. New Year’s Eve fireworks are returning to the waterfront, y’all! The Downtown LB Alliance in partnership with the City of Long Beach Economic Development and Shoreline Village will host the FREE spectacle. Be downtown on Friday at midnight to see the fireworks show on the waterfront. (DTLB)
  5. Gilmore Music at 1935 East 7th Street closed its doors at the end of May. However, we learned yesterday that four former Gilmore employees had a plan. They worked together to create More Music LB, which will open next year at 3736 East Seventh Street. Neighbors may remember that this venue was the location of the Luxury Glam Hair Salon in the past. The store owners envision their location to be a “hub for local musicians to meet, hang out, grow and promote themselves.” (The HiLo)
