Homeless Man Struck, Killed By Long Beach Fire Truck
Firefighters responding to an emergency call for service struck a pedestrian in Belmont Shore early Tuesday morning.

LONG BEACH, CA — A homeless man was struck and killed by a Long Beach Fire Department fire engine in Belmont Shore early Tuesday morning.
According to the Long Beach Police Department, officers responded to the collision at about 12:39 a.m.
"The preliminary investigation indicates LBFD personnel were responding to a call for service when their fire engine collided with a pedestrian," LBPD said in a statement.

According to police, the pedestrian was lying in front of the roll-up door to the fire station as the engine exited. The firefighters remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation.
The victim was identified by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner as 61-year-old Michael Shaun Ross, who was experiencing homelessness.
