LONG BEACH, CA — The Long Beach Police Department Monday released body-worn camera footage of an August officer-involved shooting involving a 35-year-old homeless man at a Downtown Metro platform.

At about 9:10 p.m. on Aug. 7, LBPD responded to a report of a person with a gun at the 5th Street and Pacific Avenue Metro Rail platform. When officers arrived they located the man, Tyrell Harris on the Blue Line train platform.

In the body-worn camera footage, officers are heard commanding Harris to stop and get on the ground as they chased after him on the platform. Harris then jumped from the platform to the street, where another officer commanded him to freeze and get on the ground.

As he lay on the street, Harris is heard in the video telling officers, "This is God's plan" and "You guys are good, do your jobs. I'm God's son just take care of me."
