Incarcerated Person Walks Away From Reentry Facility In Long Beach
Police were searching for a man Thursday who walked away from the Male Community Reentry Program Facility in Long Beach.

LONG BEACH, CA — Police were searching for a man Thursday who walked away from the Male Community Reentry Program Facility in Long Beach.
According to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, a door alarm went off at the facility at about 9: 30 p.m. on Wednesday. Shortly after, authorities received a tamper alert for the ankle monitor of Dajuan King, 26.
Staff at the MCRP immediately initiated an emergency count and confirmed King was missing.

King was at the end of his 10-year sentence for a second robbery strike, the CDCR said. King was originally received from Los Angeles County on June 4, 2018. Anyone who may have knowledge of King's whereabouts or sees him was urged to call 911.
The MCRP allows eligible inmates in state prison to serve the end of their sentences in the re-entry center. At the facility, people are provided with programs and tools necessary to transition from custody to the community.

Participants are linked to a range of community-based rehabilitative services that assist with substance use disorders, mental health care, medical care, employment, education, housing, family reunification and social support.
The program is voluntary for men who have approximately one year left to serve.
According to the CDCR, 99 percent of all people who have left an adult institution, camp or community-based program without permission since 1977 have been apprehended.
