📰 Here are the top stories in Long Beach today:

1) The Saltwater Deck concession stand on Junipero Beach will start selling wine and beer. At Tuesday’s City Council meeting, officials declined to side with two residents who said “the stand is too close to a playground” to sell adult beverages. However, council members did say they would review “results of their decision presented to them in 12 months.” (Long Beach Post)

2) The LBPD made an arrest in the shooting death of a 28-year-old man in the 3300 block of Andy Street. The suspect is the 38-year-old ex-boyfriend of the victim’s girlfriend. He was “booked for one count of murder. Bail was set at $2,000,000.” The suspect’s 39-year-old brother was also arrested and “booked for one count of accessory to a crime. Bail was set at $1,000,000.” (LAPD)

3) Officers also arrested the suspect in a stabbing that occurred Tuesday at the Belmont Pier. A man was stabbed after arguing with a woman. The 41-year-old woman was arrested and “booked on one count of felony assault with a deadly weapon. Bail was set at $30,000.” (Long Beach Police)

4) There was an apartment fire at the 1400 block of Cedar Avenue on Tuesday afternoon. The Washington neighborhood fire was contained to just one unit; two residents living there were hospitalized. The Red Cross is working with them to find a place to stay. (Long Beach Post)

5) The Long Beach Marathon is this weekend. For its 38th time, event coordinators expect around 15,000 participants. “The weekend will kick off with the race expo – during which all participants must pick up their race bibs — from noon to 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 7, and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Long Beach Convention & Entertainment Center, Hall C, 400 E. Seaside Way.” Marathon runners will start at Shoreline Drive and Linden Avenue. (Daily Breeze)
