- Assault Update: We recently talked about the 16-year-old girl who was attacked by men in a car in the 6100 block of LB Boulevard. The LBPD announced that they arrested a 24-year-old suspect on Monday near Artesia Boulevard and Muriel Avenue. - Could the Long Beach ARP Sprint Nationals speedboat race still take place? After denying the Southern California Speedboat Club’s permit in April for hosting a 2022 event, the City Council decided Tuesday to give the Club a hearing. “We haven’t had any substantive conversations, but (I’ve been) ensuring them and promising and committing to them that they would have a fair process,” said Councilwoman Suzie Price. So far, a hearing date has not been set. (Press-Telegram)
- With the Anaheim stadium deal for the L.A. Angels going down in flames, the City of Long Beach went on record saying that “the city is ready to restart conversations about building a stadium to house the Angels.” Initial talks of building a waterfront stadium came to an end late in 2019, when Anaheim became the serious contender.
