🤔 Aggressive Urban Coyotes or Regular L.A. County Wildlife? Poll!
We live with raccoons and opossums. Do coyotes fall into the same category? They don’t need open space, have no problems building dens close to humans, and are becoming more and more visible on our neighborhood streets. What do you think? So far, 65.9% think we need to learn to live with them, 31.7% want them gone, and 2.4% don’t care one way or the other.
📰 Here are the top stories in Long Beach today:
1) The owner of Lola’s Mexican Cuisine woke up Friday morning at 4 a.m. to the sound of the alarm. Someone had smashed in the door of the Retro Row eatery at 2030 East 4th Street. Police responded at 8:50 a.m. and downgraded the report from burglary to vandalism. However, this restaurant “has been broken into multiple times this year.” “This cannot be the new normal,” the owner said. (Long Beach Post)
2) Even so, the LBPD had a busy evening on Friday. Around 9:43 p.m., they headed to the 2000 block of Long Beach Boulevard, where an adult male “was approached by an unknown male adult suspect who stabbed him and then fled.” About an hour later, they went to the 4600 block of Long Beach Boulevard, where someone is said to have taken shots at a woman. On Saturday morning at about 3:48 a.m., the PD sent officers to the 5700 block of Ackerfield Avenue, where they found an adult male who was hit by a bullet. (LBPD)
3) On Friday morning, the LBPD’s North Division spent some fun time with students at Longfellow Elementary (3800 Olive Avenue) and Los Cerritos Elementary (515 West San Antonio Drive). The LBPD Lion mascot was on hand, and kids received junior badge stickers. (Long Beach PD)
4) Did you know that the City limits the use of leaf blowers? Current noise ordinances limit use hours from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays. The Saturday reminder also noted that there is to be no construction noise on Sundays. (Long Beach)
5) Mark your calendars! The Long Beach Motorcycle Super Show is coming to the Convention Center on October 1 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. In addition to great rides, see comedian Jerry Garcia, enjoy live music, and rub elbows with plenty of vendors. Bring a friend; they won’t mind the air conditioning. Children under 9 are free to enter. (Fishtailz)
