UPDATE: Long Beach Airport Lockdown Lifted After Bomb Scare

Passengers are still advised to check with the airlines for any delays before arriving at the airport.

An unattended bag that triggered a lockdown at the Long Beach Airport on Wednesday morning was determined to be harmless, an airport spokeswoman said..

The unattended bag was found at around 10:45 a.m. by Long Beach police and K-9 unit was brought in to inspect the bag and found it to enough of a concern to contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department bomb squad, Long Beach Airport Public Information Officer Stephanie Montuya-Morisky said.

The scene was cleared around 11:50 a.m., Cassie Chauvel of the Long Beach Airport said.

So far flights have not been affected by this incident, but passengers are advised to check with the airlines for any delays or cancelations Montuya-Morisky said.

"The airlines set their own schedules but there will likely be some changes" due to this incident, she said.

Airport operations are slowly returning to normal, Chauvel said.
