Long Beach Board Of Water Commissioners Votes On Budget And Rates

The board will vote on two resolutions regarding their Fiscal Year 2017-18 proposed budget and rates for Long Beach Water on June 15.

From the Long Beach Water Department: The Long Beach Board of Water Commissioners will vote on two separate resolutions regarding their Fiscal Year 2017-18 proposed budget and rates for Long Beach Water on Thursday, June 15, 2017. The regular Board meeting will be held at 9 a.m. at the LBWD Administration Building (1800 E. Wardlow Road).

The rate resolution proposes a 4 percent water rate increase and a 2 percent sewer rate increase to meet continuing increases in the cost of delivering water and sewer services safely and reliably to our community. The average combined water and sewer bill for a typical single family household will increase by $1.84 per month. Typical usage is based on 10 billing units for water and 10 billing units for sewer per month. The new rates will go into effect October 1, 2017.

“The Board of Water Commissioners are committed to adopting a fiscally responsible budget through a transparent process,” said Art Levine, president of the Long Beach Board of Water Commissioners. “We strive to deliver the best value for our customers and to always practice prudent financial management. Our customers will still enjoy some of the lowest rates in the state for the exceptional water and services they receive.”
