LONG BEACH, CA — Long Beach is set to get its first-ever amphitheater along the Downtown waterfront near the Queen Mary by the end of this year, according to city officials.

At the 2025 State of the City presentation, Mayor Rex Richardson announced that Long Beach is partnering with ASM Global/Legends to open and manage the venue for an initial five years. When completed, the venue will be able to hold up to 12,000 people and will host up to 40 events annually.

“This is a transformative time for Long Beach as we continue raising our position as a leading destination for the arts, entertainment and tourism in Southern California,” Richardson said.

The temporary amphitheater will be approximately five to six acres along Queens Highway, with the Queen Mary close by. The city is also developing a shuttle service and formal ride-share amenities to enhance accessibility and sustainability.

Preparation and construction of the Long Beach Bowl is expected to begin this winter.

“The new Long Beach Bowl will be more than just a stage – it will be a game-changer for the economic growth and vitality of our city,” said Economic Development Department Director Bo Martinez.
