Long Beach Named Top Eco-Friendly Vacation Destination
Those looking for an ideal destination for green summer travel are looking to Long Beach, according to a new study done by Velotric.

LONG BEACH, CA — Those looking for an ideal destination for green summer travel are looking to Long Beach, according to a new study done by Velotric that named the city the top eco-friendly vacation spot in 2023.
According to the study, about one in six people in the country said they planned to take green vacations this summer. Long Beach landed at number one on the list beating out San Francisco by more than 25 points.
"With excellent air quality and plenty of Earth-friendly activities, Long Beach offers eco-conscious travelers a fun-filled, sun-soaked summer vacation getaway," Velotric said.

Velotric considered many factors to make its list of top eco-friendly U.S. cities including, data from Yelp, TripAdvisor's GreenLeaders program and AirNow. Cities were considered based on their air quality, number of beaches, campgrounds, sustainable hotels, farmer's markets, recycling facilities and thrift stores per 100,000 residents.
Long Beach scored well in the number of nearby beaches, farmer's markets, recycling facilities and thrift stores.

According to Velotric, the top five cities among the 50 most populous cities in the country were:
- Long Beach
- San Francisco
- Miami
- Minneapolis and Washington D.C.
- Oakland
