53-Year-Old Woman Killed In Car Crash On PCH
An early-morning traffic collision resulted in the death of a Long Beach woman who was trapped inside a car, police said.

LONG BEACH, CA — The Long Beach Police Department is investigating a traffic collision that resulted in a 53-year-old woman's death early Friday morning.
Police responded to the area of Pacific Coast Highway and Atlantic Avenue at about 12:15 a.m. to investigate a crash between two cars. When LBPD arrived, they found that a passenger was trapped in one of the vehicles involved.
The passenger, identified as Maria Concepcion Martinez of Long Beach, was determined dead at the scene, according to the Long Beach Fire Department.

According to investigators, a 2017 Mazda 6 driven by a 24-year-old woman was traveling westbound approaching Atlantic Avenue when it struck the side of a 2007 Toyota Scion driven by a 63-year-old man. Police said it is unknown which vehicle had the right of way.
There were three other passengers in the Scion who sustained minor injuries and were treated at a hospital, authorities said. The driver of the Scion was also admitted to the hospital later for his injuries, his condition was not shared.

The driver of the Mazda remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation before she too was taken to the hospital to treat minor injuries.
According to police, speed and driving under the influence are being investigated as potential factors in the collision.
