Hey, neighbors! It's me again, Sylvia, your host of the Long Beach Daily.
Want to host a lunar eclipse watch party? Also, you can help out local gardeners on Wednesday. Finally, Kyte has expanded into Long Beach.
GasBuddy identifies ARCO at 3201 East 7th Street as the cheapest gas in LB with $3.95 a gallon. The ARCO at 1001 Redondo Avenue is a close second with $3.99. This is also the price Sam’s Club charges at 7480 Carson Street.

First, today's weather:
Mostly cloudy and cool. High: 67 Low: 56.
Here are the top stories today in Long Beach:
- Are you looking for an excuse to invite over friends, fire up the outdoor pizza oven, and sit around in the dark? The universe heard you. On November 18 and 19, there will be a partial lunar eclipse that will nevertheless cover 98% of the moon. It will last more than three hours, peak on the 19th at 1 a.m., and bathe the moon in a gorgeous red hue. (Patch)
- Local gardeners need your help! A group of volunteers will spread three inches of mulch outside the post office at 1690 West 23rd Street. Bring a flat shovel or wheelbarrow; gloves and gardening tools will be on site. Show up on Wednesday, November 10, between 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. to help out. (LB Post)
- Kyte announced Tuesday that it will launch its service in Long Beach and surrounding areas. This company's service, which became famous in L.A. for offering “on-demand cars delivered to customers for as long as they need them,” is part of an aggressive growth strategy. If you’re ready to try it, use the promo code "LONGBEACH15." (PR Newswire)
- We had four shootings over the weekend. On Saturday, there were shootings in the 3200 block of Oregon Avenue, the 700 block of Cerritos Avenue, which is close to the MOLAA, and a road rage incident in the 1700 Block of Alamitos Avenue. On Sunday, a shooting took place on PCH and Chestnut. (LBReport)
- The 710 Freeway Task Force is at it again. After the first meeting got quite a bit of criticism, it planned a second one. Members are still hoping to find a way to push through a widening project that would add two truck lanes. You may remember that the EPA put the kibosh on the project because it “didn’t meet federal air quality standards.” Rather than doing the environmental work, the Metro Board decided “to suspend work on the environmental process and re-engage community members.” (LB Post)
