After finding security footage of the attack, officers took Marbra into custody on suspicion of sexual assault, according to police. He was then connected to the other two crimes.
Marbra, who was previously convicted of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in Florida in 2021, was charged Thursday with the following:
- One count of assault with the intent to commit a forcible rape, along with a special allegation that he inflicted great bodily injury during the commission of this crime
- One count of battery with the special allegation that the act was a hate crime
- One count of forcible rape with the special allegation that he kidnapped the victim and inflicted great bodily injury during the commission of this crime.
“The details of this series of attacks are incredibly disturbing. My office will pursue every legal avenue to hold the perpetrator fully accountable for these appalling acts,” said Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman. “I thank the Long Beach Police Department for apprehending the suspect and encourage any additional victims to come forward as we seek justice."
If convicted of each crime, Marbra could be sentenced to 80 years in state prison and be required to register as a sex offender, according to authorities.
Detectives also believe there may be more victims or unreported crimes involving the 29-year-old. Authorities ask that anyone who believes they may be a victim of a crime perpetrated by Marbra contact the Long Beach Police Department at 562-570-7368.
