LONG BEACH, CA — A man was in critical condition on Monday after he was shot in Long Beach on Sunday night, police said.

According to the Long Beach Police Department, officers were patrolling near the 1300 block of Long Beach Boulevard at about 9:30 p.m. when they witnessed a shooting. The victim was shot in the upper body and was taken to the hospital in critical, but stable condition, LBPD said.

"The suspect surrendered at the scene and was taken into custody without incident,'' LBPD said in a statement.

LBPD recovered a loaded firearm after the incident and the suspect was identified as Kileo Taylor-Morrison, 22 from Bell. Taylor-Morrison was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

Detectives are still investigating the motive for the shooting, police said.
