Man, Dog Ambushed And Shot During Walk In Long Beach

A man and his dog were shot while on a walk late Wednesday in Long Beach, law enforcement said.

LONG BEACH, CA — A man and his dog were shot while out on a walk late Wednesday night in Long Beach, according to police.

At around 11 p.m, Long Beach Police Department officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 1400 block of Rose Avenue. When police arrived, they found the victim with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound in his lower body and his dog with a gunshot wound on its paw.

Paramedics brought the man to a nearby hospital and the dog was taken to a local pet clinic for treatment of their injuries.

According to investigators, the man and his dog were walking when they were approached by an unknown vehicle. Two men got out of the car and fired shots at the victim before fleeing the scene.

The motive for the shooting and the identity of the suspects are still under investigation, police said.
