Man Jumps Into Traffic, Is Struck By 3 Vehicles In Long Beach: Police
Police are investigating the death of a man who reportedly jumped into traffic and was struck by three different vehicles.

LONG BEACH, CA — Long Beach police are investigating the death of a man who reportedly jumped into traffic and was struck by three vehicles late Tuesday night.
The crash was reported at about 11:17 p.m. at the intersection of Anaheim Street and Roycroft Avenue. When police arrived, they found a pedestrian in the westbound lanes of Anaheim Street.
Paramedics with the Long Beach Fire Department responded to the scene and determined the man dead at the scene.

According to preliminary investigation of the incident, a 2021 Volkswagen ID was traveling westbound when the driver saw a pedestrian jump from the sidewalk and into the roadway directly in front of the car.
After the initial collision, the pedestrian remained lying in the roadway and was struck by another two vehicles, LBPD said. The drivers of all three vehicles involved remained on the scene and cooperated with the investigation.

According to police, speed, reckless driving or impaired driving are not being investigated as possible factors in the collisions.
The pedestrian's identity was withheld pending notification of his next of kin.
