LONG BEACH, CA — A pedestrian was struck and killed by a car in Cambodia Town Sunday night, LBPD said.

At about 10:50 p.m., officers received a report of a collision between a car and a man near the intersection of Alamitos Avenue and Anaheim Street. When officers arrived, the man was unconscious with "serious injuries."

Paramedics took the pedestrian to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Preliminary investigation results indicate the man was standing in the middle of the road outside of a crosswalk on Alamitos Avenue. A car traveling northbound struck him without stopping and fled the scene.

The victim's identity was withheld pending notification of his next of kin, LBPD said.
