Man Killed In Hit-And-Run Crash On Long Beach Freeway: CHP

The crash happened Tuesday night near where the San Diego (405) Freeway meets the Long Beach (710).

LONG BEACH, CA β€” A man was killed Tuesday night when he was struck by a car while crossing freeway lanes in Long Beach, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Authorities say the man was walking on a transition road where the San Diego (405) Freeway and Long Beach (710) Freeway meet when a driver in a dark-colored sedan hit him.

The impact caused the man to collide with the pavement and the person in the car drove off, according to the CHP.

Despite efforts by Long Beach Fire Department personnel to save the man's life, he died at the scene, the CHP said. He was only identified by authorities as a 40-year-old man.

Police, meanwhile, continue to look for the driver of the sedan, which they say has possible windshield and front-end damage.
