Man Says He Was Unexpectedly Shot In Long Beach, Suspect At Large: PD

A man said he heard a noise and then noticed he had been shot in Long Beach, police said.

LONG BEACH, CA — Police have launched an investigation after a man arrived at a hospital Sunday evening with a gunshot wound.

Officers responded to a hospital at around 7 p.m. Sunday to investigate a reported shooting in the area of Atlantic Avenue and Market Street, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

There, police met a man suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his lower body, police said.

The man said he was near Atlantic Avenue and Market Street when he heard noises and observed he was injured. He transported himself to the hospital, police said.

"Officers canvassed the area described, but were unable to locate a crime scene," police said.
