Man Shot Multiple Times In Long Beach: Police

The shooting happened Thursday night in the 5800 block of Myrtle Avenue, police said.

LONG BEACH, CA — Police are investigating a shooting in Long Beach Thursday night that left one man injured, according to authorities.

The man was in the 5800 block of Myrtle Avenue around 8:40 p.m. when someone fired a gun several times, striking him in the lower and upper body, according to the Long Beach Police Department. It's unclear if the man was the intended target or was hit by stray bullets.

Officers responded to the area and located the wounded man, whom Long Beach Fire personnel then took to a local hospital for treatment, police said.

At the scene, there was evidence connected with the shooting, but the suspect or suspects had already left, according to police.

A motive for the shooting and suspect information remains under investigation, the LBPD said.
