Another early morning, another shooting in LB. Also, the recent Silver Alert had a good ending. Finally, CSI fans rejoice! The LBPD’s crime lab has a new response vehicle.

First, today's weather: Clear throughout the day. High: 81 Low: 68.

Here are the top stories today in Long Beach:

1. A man was shot walking on LB Blvd near 14th Street, which is the Poly High neighborhood. The shooting took place early Sunday morning at 2:30 a.m. The shooter was one of five men who approached the individual. (LB Post)
2. The latest Silver Alert has a happy conclusion. Eighty-five-year-young Calvin Mark Lee was located Saturday unharmed. He had been missing since Thursday. (My News LA)
3. The LBPD’s crime lab has a new crime scene response vehicle. It is noteworthy that the crime lab went through the voluntary accreditation process, which puts it in a league of its own in California. (ABC 7)
4. The LB Day Nursery plans to expand its west branch. The facility, which operates two locations and enrolls about 300 youngsters between six months and six years, has seen a need in the Washington neighborhood. The Rotary Club of Long Beach is an integral partner in making the expansion happen. (Beachcomber)
5. The LB City Council has added a thinly-veiled opposition to Governor Gavin Newsom’s recall to its Tuesday agenda. Vice Mayor Rex Richardson and Council Members Mary Zendejas, Cindy Allen, and Suely Saro drive the move. If successful, LB will be on record as opposing the Newsom recall. (LBReport)
