Man Shot While Walking In Long Beach: Police

The shooting happened around 8:43 p.m. in the 3200 block Atlantic Avenue, authorities said.

LONG BEACH, CA — Police say they are investigating a shooting in Long Beach Sunday night that left a man hospitalized.

A man told officers that he was walking in the 3200 block of Atlantic Avenue around 8:43 p.m. when he suddenly felt pain on his lower body, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

That's when the man realized he had been shot and took himself to a local hospital, the LBPD said. His wound was not considered life-threatening, they added.

It's unclear who shot the man. Officers canvassed the scene where the man said he'd been hit by the gunfire but were unable to locate a crime scene.

"The motive, circumstances of the shooting, and suspect information are under investigation," police said in a statement Monday morning.
