​Man's Body Found in Abandoned LB Building, Site of Previous Burn

A firefighter suffered burns battling the blaze and was treated at the hospital for minor injuries.

LONG BEACH, CA — Firefighters discovered the body of a man Sunday while battling a second-alarm fire at a two-story abandoned commercial building in Long Beach, which was also the site of a previous burn a month ago.

A firefighter at the scene was rushed to a hospital with minor burns, according to Captain Jack Crabtree of the Long Beach Fire Department.

Firefighters dispatched at 5:45 a.m. Sunday to the 900 block of Pine Avenue had the blaze out at 6:10 a.m., Crabtree said.

The man's body was found on the second floor of the two-story structure. He suffered from smoke and burn-related injuries.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
