  1. Update: The 18-year-old young woman shot by the Millikan HS safety officer is brain-dead. She was shot while in the car pulling away from the safety officer. The other occupants were her 20-year-old boyfriend and his 16-year-old brother. Police are investigating the two survivors about their involvement in the fight that led to the shooting. (Daily Mail)
  2. The latest shooting took place Tuesday near the Traffic Circle around PCH and Ximeno Avenue. Two men robbed a woman, who was sitting in her parked car, at gunpoint. They took her wallet and shot at her. This area has had several shootings, “but mostly west of the Traffic Circle.” (LBReport)
  3. There have been eight cases of sexual battery across the city. (Sexual battery is a legal term for one person groping another, or otherwise sexually gratify themselves, without the other person’s consent.) The first case occurred in May. Incidents happened near Redondo Avenue and Anaheim Street, 3rd Street and Cherry Avenue, Orizaba Avenue and 4th Street, Temple Avenue and 4th Street, Alamitos Avenue and East Broadway, Alamitos Avenue and 3rd Street, Alamitos Avenue and 2nd Street, and Redondo Avenue and 4th Street. If you know anything, please call 562-435-6711. (Fox 11)
  4. Four LBFD employees, two firefighters and two fire captains, were disciplined for their participation in a 2018 brawl. Their, “off-duty firefighters rummaged through medical supplies, swore at local first responders and repeatedly got in the way of medical crews treating several people who appeared to be overdosing.” However, back then, then-Fire Chief Mike Duree said there’d be no consequences for the two firefighters. The new fire chief, Xavier Espino, overrode this promise. (LB Post)
  5. LB got an indoor golf bar, y’all! Birdies n Brews is at 90 East 4th Street. This is a great hangout for the first-time golfer who wants to dip a toe in the water and is not sure that the links are for them. And yes, the golf simulator does allow you to play Pebble Beach. As for the brews, the owner “made it a point to … find brands that are either [people of color]-, female- or LGBTQ-brewed and –owned.” (The HiLo)
