📰 Here are the top stories in Long Beach today:
- Another motorcyclist lost his life on the city’s streets Friday. It involved the adult male rider of a 2014 Kawasaki and the male driver of a 2014 GMC. Near the intersection of Long Beach Boulevard and Ellis Street, the motorcyclist reportedly traveled “at a high rate of speed northbound on Long Beach Boulevard.” The vehicle’s driver traveled southbound and made a left turn into a parking lot “in front of the motorcyclist.” The resulting collision was fatal for the rider of the motorcycle. (Long Beach Police Department)
- Two boys, 15 and 16 years old, were arrested as suspects in the January 6 killing of a 20-year-old man. The Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) arrived at the 5500 block of Long Beach Boulevard and found a victim with multiple gunshot wounds. On Friday, the boys were arrested near the 400 block of East 49th Street and 1100 block of Tehachapi Drive, respectively. (KTLA)
- Effective Monday, the city will move the vaccination sites at Veterans Stadium and the Pacific Coast Campus of the Long Beach City College to the rec centers at El Dorado Park and Martin Luther King Jr. Park. The planned hours of operation at both locations are Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and then again from 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. (City of Long Beach)
- Last week, the Planning Commission approved the Mosaic Project, which is an ambitious 5.5-acre housing project with 900 units. This building will go up on Long Beach Boulevard between 4th and 6th streets. However, project insiders don't anticipate any construction to begin until maybe a year from now. (Press-Telegram)
- The Lowrider L.A. Super Show is coming to the Convention Center on March 4. Bring the kids; youngsters under 12 enter for free. Once there, you can enjoy lowrider cars, trucks, the hydraulic hops and more. (Lowrider Experience)
