Motorcyclist Crashes Into Light Pole, Business In Long Beach

A motorcyclist was killed after crashing into a light pole and the front of a business in Long Beach Wednesday night.

LONG BEACH, CA — A motorcyclist died in a crash after colliding with a light pole and the front of a business in Long Beach late Wednesday night.

The Long Beach Police Department responded to the crash near the intersection of Anaheim Street and Cherry Avenue at about 11:46 p.m. When officers arrived, they saw that a motorcycle crashed into a business on the southwest corner of the intersection.

"Long Beach Fire Department personnel were already on scene and determined the motorcyclist deceased," LBPD said in a statement.

According to preliminary investigation results, the motorcyclist was traveling southbound on Cherry Avenue and crossed through the intersection. During the turn, the motorcycle drove over the curb on the southwest corner and lost control.

Police said at this time, speed is being investigated as a factor in the collision. No other vehicles were involved.
