Overturned Semi Catches Fire, Spills Macadamia Nut Oil On 91 Freeway
The fiery crash shutdown several lanes of the freeway for hours overnight.
LONG BEACH, CA — A semi-truck carrying macadamia nut oil caught fire after overturning on the Artesia (91) Freeway at Long Beach Boulevard Wednesday night.
Authorities responded around 7:56 p.m. to the area, where they found the semi-truck on fire and blocking several freeway lanes, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The driver was still in the vehicle at the time, though authorities did not say whether they were injured in the crash.

It's unclear exactly how the crash happened, but the CHP said the semi-truck jackknifed and overturned, causing it to spill large amounts of macadamia nut oil.
Several freeway lanes were blocked into the early hours of Thursday morning. At least four lanes have since reopened as of 6 a.m.
