Pedestrian Dies After Being Hit By Semi-Truck In Long Beach: Police

The crash happened Friday afternoon in the area of 67th Street and Paramount Avenue, according to authorities.

LONG BEACH, CA — Police say they're investigating a crash involving a semi-truck in Long Beach Friday afternoon that left a man dead.

The man was walking in the middle of the road at 67th Street and Paramount Boulevard around 4:05 p.m. when a semi-truck driver going southbound hit him, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

Despite efforts by Long Beach Fire Department personnel to save his life, the man died at the scene, police said. His identity was not immediately revealed as the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's Office works to notify his relatives of his death.

The driver of the semi-truck, who police identified as as a 51-year-old Long Beach man, remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, according to authorities.

Detectives do not believe speed, distracted or impaired driving were factors in the crash.
