Pedestrian Dead After Being Struck By 2 Cars Near Cal State Long Beach
The crash happened Wednesday night just before 11 p.m. in the area of Seventh Street and Channel Drive, according to police.
LONG BEACH, CA — A pedestrian died Wednesday night when he was struck by two vehicles near Cal State Long Beach, police announced today.
Long Beach police say a woman was driving a 2024 Hyundai Ioniq eastbound on Seventh Street near Channel Drive around 10:56 p.m. when she saw the pedestrian "appear in front of her vehicle in the roadway" and struck him.
The woman pulled over, but soon after, the driver of a black truck ran over the pedestrian, according to the Long Beach Police Department. The driver of the black truck then continued driving.

The pedestrian died at the scene, the LBPD said.
Authorities only identified the pedestrian as a man. His identity will be revealed once the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's Office notifies his relatives of the death.

The driver of the Hyundai, meanwhile, remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, according to the LBPD. Speed, distracted driving or impaired driving do not appear to have been factors in the crash.
