Suspect Barricaded Inside Tent, Arrested Near Downtown Long Beach

Long Beach Police arrested a suspect who barricaded themself inside a tent during an investigation Friday afternoon.

Detectives were in the area of Frontenac Court and Nardo Way attempting to locate the suspect when they retreated into a tent and refused to comply with the officers, police said.

LONG BEACH, CA — Long Beach police Friday arrested a suspect who barricaded themself inside a tent during an investigation, according to police.

Detectives were in the area of Frontenac Court and Nardo Way attempting to locate the suspect when they retreated into a tent and refused to comply with the officers, police said.

"Officers established a perimeter, and nearby residents have evacuated and/or sheltered in place," LBPD said in a statement.

After some time, the suspect complied with officers' commands and was taken into custody without incident. Police booked the suspect into Long Beach City Jail.

Police notified the public about the investigation at about 2:11 p.m. and closed 10th Street between Long Beach Boulevard and Atlantic Avenue for a short time.

The investigation is ongoing and no additional information was available, according to police.
