Rep. Alan Lowenthal recently recognized three students in his district with Congressional awards. Lowenthal, who represents Long Beach, gave a silver medal to Coastline Community College Student Joseph Bastien, a bronze medal to Los Alamitos resident Justin Geffrey and a bronze medal to Calvary Chapel Private School student Pierce Fitle. Congressional awards are given to students who "set and achieve individual goals in four program areas based on individual interest, need, and ability. The program areas include voluntary public service; personal development; physical fitness; and, expedition/exploration," according to Lowenthal's office.

The students were recognized for achieving individual goals.
