🤔 Homelessness Poll!
CNN reports that Los Angeles County has a homeless population of “more than 66,400 people.” The numbers are increasing. Do you think that city governments are doing enough? Are there better solutions? Please let me know your thoughts! So far, 30.6% favor more infrastructure investment, 16.7% want federal involvement, 1.4% say faith-based groups need to step up, 5.6% want the military to open its bases, and 43.8% ask for justice system involvement.

📰 Here are the top five stories today in Long Beach:

1) With the weather, tempers are heating up, too. On Wednesday, at around 10:14 a.m., the LBPD arrested a male suspect in a road rage incident. The call came from “the area of Anaheim Street and Alamitos Avenue, just west of MacArthur Park.” The suspect allegedly fired a gun at another motorist but missed. (Long Beach Post)

2) On Thursday morning, a little after 7 a.m., a semi-truck overturned near Lakewood Boulevard and Conant Street. All southbound lanes of Lakewood Boulevard had to be shut down. “No injuries have been reported, and there wasn’t any damage to other vehicles,” which leaves us wondering what actually caused the semi to tip over. (Long Beach Post)

3) The Long Beach Polytechnic High School has been made aware of a scam involving Poly Jackrabbits games. The school posted on Wednesday that audiences should “not pay for any live-streaming of our athletic events unless we specifically post it.” Apparently, “there are plenty of phishing sites falsely claiming to live stream” Poly live athletic events. (Poly Jackrabbits)

4) Fluffy's Sno-Balls is located at 1208 Long Beach Boulevard, and it is the type of business that’s good for the city. It hires local high school students and hosts community events. And yet, it has come to the attention of ne'er-do-wells. On Aug. 12, a man threw an object through the glass front door. The same thing happened a few weeks before that. "I'm a small business and insurance is being affected," the owner said. However, the Hurricane Katrina survivor isn’t giving up. So, if you have a hankering for authentic New Orleans sno-balls, you know where to go. (CBS)

5) Mark your calendars! There is a free Brewery Knolls Beer Bus tour on Saturday at 2 p.m. Sponsored by the Bixby Knolls Business Improvement Association, guests are invited to ride the Big Red Bus “to check out some of the best breweries, bars, pubs and restaurants.” One of the stops will be Beachwood Brewing, which is hosting its grand opening celebration that day! “All ages are welcome.” (Beachwood Brewing & Distilling)
