Here are the top stories today in Long Beach:
- A street vendor was robbed in an alley near 10th Street on Friday afternoon. The robber got away with $180 the married father of three youngsters had earned. (Fox 11)
- Will there be a stop to the LB PD’s use of facial recognition software? Officials claim it is only used in limited capacity. Council members are not weighing in. However, the subcommittee of the city’s Technology and Innovation Committee wants the technology banned. (LB Post)
- The shelter for migrant children at the LB Convention Center has closed. In total, 1,538 minors came through the facility and were connected with family members or sponsors. (ABC7)
- Authorities are working on building a case against a suspect in a series of robberies at various businesses between 2/26 and 7/7. The Long Beach Police Department encourages anyone with additional information to contact the Robbery Detail at (562)570-7464. (LB PD)
- Construction on the Broadstone Promenade apartments has begun. The future eight-story building will have 189 residences and should open in 2023. You can follow the progress of the construction by visiting 127 East Broadway. (Urbanize)
